POST RALLY REPORT

Activities:

The Spring Rally started with Happy Hour/Meet and Greet on 24 March at 4 PM.  It was an opportunity to meet the attendees, talk about their trip to the Rally and their interests.  At 6 PM, Pizza was served.  After everyone filled up on pizza, drinks and brownies, we discussed the campground, places and activities which the members could enjoy on Friday.  At that point, everyone said they were ready for downtime in their coach.

Friday – The morning started with a bright, sunny day and a breakfast of fruit, juice, coffee, egg casserole, biscuits, and bacon.  After breakfast, Joe Keubler and Barry Rubin (TDC East and West Vice Presidents) discussed Events, Rallies, and Opportunities to help in the Thor Diesel Club.  We also discussed activities such as taking the shuttle over to the Casino to see all three casinos, the shops, and other activities including bowling, watching a movie, and other activities in the Hotel-Casino building.  Other interesting sights include Choctaw Cultural Center near the campground, and then there is the world’s largest peanut in downtown Durant.  Other sites to visit were Museum at Fort Washita a display of the Chicksaw Indian and Calvary conflicts.  There are also Chicksaw Indian Museums in another county within easy driving distance.  Some of the members decided to listen and talk with the Sky Med Representative who was staying at the Campground.

.                 Happy Hour started at 4 PM and conversation centered around activities the couples had seen and/or enjoyed.  Dinner of pulled pork barbeque sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans was served along with peach cobbler for dessert.  After dinner we pulled some tables together and had a great game of Left, Center, Right, and Wild.  Half of the proceeds from the game went to the KOA Kare Kamps in the US for disadvantaged children to go camping.

Saturday – Again, we enjoyed a sunny day in Durant OK, in fact, we had great sleeping weather with cool nights and warm days.  Breakfast consisted of the usual items plus pancakes, sausage patties, and biscuits.  Again, we discussed activities.  Many left to enjoy the day on their own, a few stayed to talk the Sky Med Rep.

Happy Hour started with getting everyone together for a group picture of the attending TDC Members.  Pictures were taken by Matt Lazar and his trusty Drone.  Dinner was Spaghetti and Meat Balls, Fettuccini Alfredo, salad, garlic bread and brownies for dessert.  A hot game of Left, Center, Right, and Wild added some excitement for the evening.   Over $70 was raised in support KOA Kare Kamps.

Sunday – Sunday was another beautiful day at the Durant/Choctaw KOA.  Breakfast was continental style with coffee, juice, fruit, bagels and muffins.  Some folks came to the rally room early for a breakfast snack to take with them on the road. Others came to Rally Room to enjoy the last breakfast of the rally and some good conversation.  Everyone said they enjoyed the rally and the beautiful campground.  Our sincere THANKS to all who attended.

A postscript to the rally – We want to Thank Charlie Tyree of the Choctaw/Durant KOA; the $35 site fee per night was greatly appreciated.  We also want to express our sincere thanks to the East and West TDC Vice Presidents for their help and attendance, Matt Lazar for his drone pictures, and Thor Diesel Club and Thor Motor Coach for their support.
